Business Stationary Legal Requirements (UK)

Often companies are unaware of their legal obligations. It is not as simple as registering a Company and complying with HMRC. Companies House provides information on your legal obligations as far as your Company or Limited Liability Partnership stationary goes.

When using electronic, hard copy or any alternative format Companies must show its name in a manner in which it is easy to read. This applies to the ALL of the following stationary:

• Business letters, order forms;
• Notices and other official publications;
• Bills of exchange, promissory notes, endorsements, cheques and orders for money or goods purporting to be signed by, or on behalf of, the Company;
• Bills of parcels, invoices, receipts and letters of credit
• E-mails which are used in place of formal letters
• On all its websites

On all business letters, order forms or any web sites, the Company must display clearly the following information:

• Place of registration
• Registered number
• Registered office address
• If it is being wound up – This must be stated also
